Gender discrimination, in case of a girl child, is much prevalent in Bangladesh society. The rights of a child is primarily guided by the personal laws of the particular community in which he /she is born and is shaped by the culture and social situation in which she/he lives in. Bangladesh is a country which abounds in personal laws with each community having its own personal laws. These personal laws based on religion, affect both men and women since their birth and their impact is greater on women. Muslims, who comprise the majority of  population are governed by personal laws derived from Sharia
