North-South Regional Trade Agreements as Legal Regimes: A critical Assessment of the EU-SADC Economic Partnership Agreement presents a timely discussion about the impact of regional and bilateral free trade agreements (FTAs) taking place between developing countries on one side, and developed countries on the other. As such, the timing of the publication of this book could not have been better. Revived interest in this particular topic took a new turn with the recent election of Donald Trump, whose electoral presidential campaign was primarily founded upon criticism of the current global trading regime and particularly of various free trade arrangements including those multilateral ones (such as the World Trade Organisation –WTO-) and/or regional trade agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The pinnacle of the newly elected US administration’s position on these free trade agreements culminated with its decision to withdraw from the highly controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (the TPP) earlier this year.
