Volume 7, Issue 2 of the Journal of the Philosophy of International Law features three Articles and one Commentary.
The first Article focuses on the irksome and persistent discourse on democracy: What is it? For who and why? What are the criteria/technical standards? This seemingly simple questions are important given that democracy comes in so many different forms. The Article notes that the discourse associated with the (human) right to democracy in international law and democratic entitlement. It discusses the position of the democracy norm in international law as a work in progress— far from being a complete right it is more a privilege, subject to domestic conditions.
