Shaukat Hayat’s book explores the Islamic civil procedure and is considered a huge contribution to the literature on Islamic law and civil procedure related to litigation. This book outlines the code of Islamic law procedure in the English language and provides clear details about the code of procedural law that has not yet been compiled or codified but lies scattered across the various classical works on Islamic law. For example, in the past, only a few books have been written on the administration of justice or the judicial system of Islam, such as Dr Mohammad Muslehuddin’s the Judicial System of Islam: its Origin and Development, 1991,1 and Dr. Ghulam Murtaza’s the Judicial System of Islam, 1994.2 However, in those books, the important area of procedural law is allocated merely a few pages. The present book represents a valuable attempt to clarify Islamic Law civil procedure and is considered an important compendium on Islamic law and civil procedure.
