Communication Flows in International Economic Law:
The Absence of International Leadership in the Development of the World Trading System

There are no grand ideas propelling the world trading system into an orbit of effective leadership, normative development, and arbitration. The Geneva business is bust. The WTO Ambassadors have little to show other than having been posted in Geneva. And back home their leadership is weak, stumbling and incapable of articulating any Statesman like directions. Yet our expectations of relying on politicians and a politically driven apparatus neatly driven are equally misconceived. The grand ideas must come from elsewhere. The mantel of leadership needs to be snatched away from our undeserving political elite or there is a call for a fundamental revision of the constitution of the world trading order.
