ABSTRACT
The Rule of Law and Good Governance are considered as key elements for the development of any country. However, in the last two decades these elements have attracted a significant attention of the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) and consequently attached as key conditionality with IFI’s loans to borrower countries. Pakistan as member of the IFIs is under obligation and has taken certain measures to introduce the Rule of Law and Good Governance in the country. Therefore, the main purpose of this article is to appraise whether the Constitution of Pakistan provides any specific provisions relating to these elements or not? Moreover, this article will specifically evaluate what mechanisms are provided for the enforcement of the Rule of Law and Good Governance in Pakistan. In addition, it will analyse various impediments on the way to these elements to achieve international standards?
