Abstract: Hybrid working was introduced to primarily to reduce the risk of virus transmission, which was very important objective at the time of COVID-19 pandemic. The changing nature of work has encouraged organizations to continue to adopt hybrid models as the combined office and remote working is considered to boost productivity and support employee well-being in certain way. However, challenges in implementing these models include flexible time management, blurred work-life boundaries, and employee dissatisfaction, with about 70% of employees finding current timing arrangements inadequate. This article argues that while the shift toward hybrid work models in Indonesia aims to enhance productivity and employee well-being while mitigating virus transmission risks, obstacles such as flexible time management, blurred work-life boundaries, and employee dissatisfaction persist within the country's diverse workforce. This article reviews recent literature on the impact of hybrid work models on employee well-being and organizational productivity. Studies highlight the benefits of flexible work models on socialization, mental health, and work-life balance, with particular focus on Indonesia's unique cultural and legal landscape. The article examines the differential impact of formal and informal flexible work arrangements in the Indonesian context. Challenges identified include increased workload, work-home conflicts, and the influence of Indonesia's cultural norms and legal frameworks on policy outcomes. This article also addresses research gaps, including comprehensive impacts on physical and mental health, cultural and legal considerations specific to Indonesia, as well as issues like data security and regulatory challenges in hybrid work. This article concludes that to improve policy effectiveness, the Maqasid al-Shariah framework should be implemented, providing a holistic approach to support both employee well-being and organizational productivity in hybrid work settings.
