The Sustainable Justice Conference 2025 (SJC2025), hosted at Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University, represents a timely and necessary intervention in contemporary legal scholarship. The conference was convened on the theme of ‘Sustainable Justice: Law, Environment and Other Pathways to Achieving SDG 16’. The ultimate aim is to critically review the role of law in promoting peaceful, inclusive and resilient societies. It facilitated the sharing of legal knowledge and judicial insights, in addition to facilitating interdisciplinary interactions. The conference welcomed academics, legal professionals, policy makers and civil society members to discuss the complex legal issues that define the contemporary world we inhabit. This significant endeavour positioned the conference at the intersection of legal theory, policy innovation, and the global development agenda, particularly emphasising the potential of a transformative role of law in the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (SDG 16).
